Flight attendant shares ‘secret’ places on plane most people don’t know about

Despite travelling a lot during pre-Covid times, it seems there’s still plenty we don’t know about planes.

Thankfully flight attendants like Kat Kamalani are sharing ‘secrets’ they’ve learned at work on TikTok.

Kat recently educated her 500,000 followers on the social media platform, revealing places on a plane you might not have known existed.

She said: “Here are some secret spots on a plane from a flight attendant.”

Kat began the video by stressing that travellers should not attempt to get into the spots because they won’t have access as flight attendants have special keys and you’ll most likely get in big trouble if you try, which could see you kicked off the plane.

She continued: “There could be flight attendants sleeping below your feet or above your head.

“Depending on how long the flight is on miles we get a ‘rest’. So half the crew will climb down these little steps or go up the steps and they’ll be able to sleep in these bunk beds.

“They’re super claustrophobic, super small and will usually have a curtain for some privacy. You’ll have to buckle in if there’s turbulence. After your rest is done, you swap with the other crew and depending on your seniority you get to chose what bunk bed and what rest you go on.”

Kat said pilots also get rest time, but their spot is in business class, so it’s close to the flight deck.

More than 830,000 people liked her video, with thousands of people commenting.

Many were impressed with the new information she shared.

One person replied: “Now I’m gonna become a flight attendant just to go to these places.”

Another wrote: “Wow very interesting.”

“My father is a pilot and I can confirm this is true,” responded a third.

Someone else said: “So cool! Thanks for sharing.”

In a previous video, Kat explained to her TikTok followers which food and drink items you should never have on a plane.

Her most crucial rule is to avoid consuming any liquid that’s not in a can or a plastic bottle.

She explains: “The reason being is that those water tanks are never cleaned and they are disgusting.

“So talk to a flight attendant, we rarely, rarely drink the tea or coffee, they come from the same water tank and so when you’re drinking that coffee and tea it comes from that hot water and it’s absolutely disgusting.”

Kat went on to demonstrate the different parts of a coffee machine on a plane, claiming that certain parts are only ever cleaned if they are broken.

“The whole machine is never cleaned AND they’re by the lavatories,” she continues.

The expert went on to say that as such parents should never ask for hot water to put in their baby bottles.

Instead, she recommends you should ask for a bottle of water and a cup of hot water. Next, you make up the formula using the cold water then heat the baby’s bottle up by placing it inside the cup of hot water.

It’s unclear which airline Kat has worked as a flight attendant for.
